LIZARD PIE

A lizard pie is a delicious, nutritious pie made of lizards. I am very much like a lizard pie. In addition to reptiliacious cuisine, I love really unattractive pictures, pearls with cardigans, and sliced californian avocados on ciabatta with black pepper, mustard, kosher pickles, and a little dab of olive oil.

God, I love the awkard mix tapes I make people who I have crushes on. The music is always selected with such care and appreciation!

Awkward mix CDs for people who I only love in the totally besties sort of way are also pretty awesome. I guess I just try harder for people I care about. Which, like, TOTALLY MAKES SENSE but still amuses me every single time.

Right now I’m listening to a mix CD I burned someone about half a year ago and I am totally in love with myself. Like, I was listening, and I was all, “Ooo, Antonio Carlos Jobim AND ‘The Mistress Witch of McClure (Or, The Mind That Knows Itself)’ - can I get it on or what?” So now I’m very enthusiastic about making awkward mix tapes for EVERYONE I LOVE, just on the off-chance that they’ll have the exact same reaction. It’d also be a good way to weed out people who really aren’t worth it. Like, if your love object can’t stand Okkervil River, who’s to say she’ll suddenly develop ears for “John Allyn Smith Sails” when you play it 29384934839 times in a row on your honeymoon? Seriously. Also, anyone who loves me despite the fact that I routinely sneak Spice Girls in through the backdoor totally deserves bonus points.

And by the way, the fact that I just said mix tapes like fifty times, as opposed to mix CDs? Absolutely intentional. If there’s a better way to throwback to B-grade mid-90s chick flicks while simultaneously totally impressing your crush, please let me know.

Now excuse me, I gotta go burn a mix or two…

(I can’t figure out how to format these posts so that things are in the MIDDLE cuz I’m a sped like that so… yeah, you get exciting lopsided posts where everything is shunted towards the left. Not like it matters since this blog has diverse and wide-ranging readership of… oh… me, me, me, and me. YEAH!!)
